Flex Testing
To gauge each shaft's flexibility, I set up and performed a 3 point bend test on my shafts to analyze how much weight it would take to make each shaft bend a quarter of an inch, using the same testing used on STX's Alliance product line.
Results: (less weight = more flex)
Flexibility/Stiffness - 30" Attack Shaft - Weight to Bend 1/4" [lbs]
compare to STX Alliance with shafts performing from 60 to 225 lbs.
Flexibility/Stiffness - 60" Defense Shaft - Weight to Bend 1/4" [lbs]
Note
Each shaft's flex is different because wood varies a fair amount from tree to tree and board to board.
Sapwood (light colored sections of wood) on the shaft makes it slightly more flexible at the cost of slightly less strength, which is why each wood's flex testing results vary so much.
